π Nutrition Facts for Summer Chicken Dishes (per serving)
(*Values may vary depending on how it’s cooked and seasoned. These are approximate averages for home or restaurant portions!)
Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup)
~800–900 kcal
Carbs: 25–30g Fat: 65–75g Protein: 25–30g
Because it includes glutinous rice, ginseng, and jujube, it has more carbs than Dakbaeksuk and the rich broth adds more fat — making it the highest in calories!
Similar to Dakbaeksuk, but with more rice and jujube, giving it more carbs and a richer, fattier broth. Great when you need more energy or feel weak during a diet.
Dakbaeksuk (Plain Chicken Soup)
~700–800 kcal
Carbs: 10–20g Fat: 65–75g Protein: 20–25g
With a clearer broth and little or no rice, it’s lower in carbs but similar in protein and fat to Samgyetang!
Low in carbs because little or no rice is used, while still rich in chicken protein. The clear broth has less fat and is more diet-friendly than Samgyetang.
Chogyeguksu (Cold Chicken Noodle Soup)
~600–700 kcal
Carbs: 70–80g Fat: 25–30g Protein: 5–10g
Thanks to the noodles, it’s high in carbs, with lower protein and fat. Light and refreshing, perfect for a hot day!
Although it feels light and refreshing, the noodles make it very high in carbs. Low in protein and fat, raises blood sugar quickly, and doesn’t keep you full for long — less ideal for dieting.
Dakbokkeumtang (Spicy Braised Chicken)
~500–600 kcal
Carbs: 20–30g Fat: 40–50g Protein: 15–20g
Spicy with a bit of sauce, potatoes, and carrots, so it has some carbs but the smallest calorie count overall!
However, the sauce often contains sugar/gochujang and the potatoes & carrots raise carbs slightly. Protein is decent, but if you eat all the sauce too, calories can add up.
